Board Guidelines Update - Please Review Before Posting

Recommended Posts

I just noticed today that on the address bar, it says "not secure" when I go to this website. Has this been the case the whole time and I'm now just noticing it?

I kind of feel like the thread "Restored Gospel?" is dangerously close to violating this principle. A moderator may want to check it out.

Just in the last two days, when I try to log in, I get this huge warning page (Chrome) saying I am going into dangerous territory- and "Do you want to do that?" and then you have to find a little link at the bottom that says "advanced" which repeats the same message- and you must click that to get here.

Same thing on my phone- Android, and that just started two days ago- wait- no that was just yesterday- this is the second day.

Is it a big deal to get a secured server?   It does give me pause about coming here now--

We are now on a secure server.  It self signed so you will get the warning.  If you ad to trusted sites it’ll go away.

Here's some information about how to do that.

I’ve just now been able to access the site after two-three days of blackout. I couldn’t figure out a way to assume the risk even if I had chosen to do so.

I made a video showing how do it in 4 different browsers. Then it finally dawned on me that in order to see a link to the video, you'd need to be able to access the site!

Silly me.

FYI, attempting to bypass a 403 Forbidden warning by creative editing will get you booted, but either mods are really on the ball or it allows you back in past the firewall automatically upon request. I got back in under an hour the first time (too many drug names, iirc I was posting in the virus drugs) and maybe ten minutes at most the second (url of a news article had forbidden phrase).  I think it was the repeated attempts to save with slight changes that triggered the firewall.

If it was the mods’ quick response letting me back in, thank you!

If I may ask, I am curious why it is seen as demeaning or belittling and illegal to call Joseph "Joe". I've seen that opinion a lot and was curious to see it in the rules.

People who knew him and were friends and family called him Joseph.  In the newspapers and other writings of his time, many derogatory articles would call him Joe.  That difference has been pretty consistent over the years from what I have seen.

My apologies about contributing to the political, definitely wasn’t thinking with that last comment.
