New Music To Listen To?

Yes, Celtic Woman, an Irish group of singers.  Do a search for them, there must be something available.  Of course few people like what I like.

There is a genre of music that I have grown to really like over the past few years. It's generally called "Electronica" and has numerous subgenres. One LDS musician doing this music is Kaskade ("Progressive House" genre, mostly).  He's very popular in this genre and has released a number of albums.  He served his mission in Japan and is BYU turned Ute!  His church membership is quite visible on his Wikipedia page.  He isn't actually my favorite, but if you like that genre you might like his music.  His YouTube channel: Kaskade

 

Here's a YouTube video of one of my favorites, Armin van Buuren (his genre: "Trance").  This is the best (IMO) track from his "Intense" album.

Another great Trance artist is Dash Berlin. My favorite one of his (but he has lots of good stuff) is Waiting, featuring the singer Emma Hewitt. Here's the music video, but don't pay too much attention to the video part because it is weird and makes no sense (why won't they let Emma leave the high-rise and go see Dash Berlin in concert?). The song is great.  In my opinion:

There is a lot I don't know...but there are more a few that I like a lot...that I was afraid had been forgotten by everybody. I've always preferred musicians who don't stick with one genre, and Elvis Costello definitely fits that, having done punk, pop, country, bluegrass, classical, and even ballet. He's collaborated with such folks as Burt Bacharach, Paul McCartney, Diana Krall, T-Bone Burnett, The Brodsky Quartet, and Anne-Sofie Von Otter. Here's one you might like with Burt Bacharach:

I started over on the Elvis Costello 500 now that I have Spotify. Currently listening to Edwin Fischer's recordings of Bach's "The Well-Tempered Clavier," and I am at a loss for words to describe how good it is. I think I've discovered the "ineffable" after all.

Oh my goodness... I'll really be dating myself... so try not to scoff/laugh too hard, but  I hardly recognize any of the artists or groups many of you have mentioned... nor do I relate well to most of contemporary music...   sigh...

Okay, first and foremost, I enjoy light classical... Joan Sutherland is a favorite...

Then, I like mainly instrumental music vs vocals... some of my favorites include:

Jackie Gleeson "Velvet Brass" (not only was Gleeson a comedian, but he had a wonderful musical talent).

Mantovani is a favorite (and he is more than "elevator music")

Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass... from when he was at his most popular (Lonely Bull, etc)

101 Strings... also more than elevator music.

For a toe-tapper I like folk songs like The New Christy Minstrels...

And my husband and I lived and loved the Big Band Era with the numerous bands such as Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Glenn Miller.... one of my favorite memories of my husband is the opening night of the Casino Ballroom on Catalina Island where we danced to the regrouped Glenn Miller band... called Glen Gray and the CasaLoma Orchestra.

As I said, don't laugh and scoff... this was some of the greatest music ever...
