“Harry Reid Helps Former Senator Join Mormon Church,” ABC News, April 20, 2015, online at http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/harry-reid-helps-senator-join-mormon-church-30456736 .

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has helped a former U.S. Senate colleague become a Mormon.

Reid, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, gave a blessing to Larry Pressler of South Dakota on Sunday morning to confirm him as a member of the faith.

The Deseret News in Utah reports (http://bit.ly/1JnBSw1) the ceremony occurred at a Maryland church.

The former three-term Republican Senator from South Dakota (1979-1997), was the first Vietnam veteran elected to the Senate.  He is a grad of the Harvard Law School.  He is famous for turning down an ABSCAM bribe -- the only member of Congress to refuse.  Harry Reid introduced Pressler to the Book of Mormon.
