JAHS
SALT LAKE CITY — In a bold political move, the LDS Church began the new anti-beard campaign “Not Even Once” to distance itself from the unrighteousness that comes with facial hair. Recent studies show that 53% of men with facial hair, especially beards, stop coming to church when the facial hair grows to a noticeable length. Those with beards are 67% less righteous than their clean-shaven counterparts, according to a recent study by BYU. http://www.thebunyion.com/2014/04/28/lds-church-begins-new-not-even-once-anti-beard-campaign/ Link to comment
HairBear
Well, as I don't want to look like a 12 year old, I'll think I'll keep my beard. Also I'd have to change my username on here, and I just can't do with the hassle Edited May 2, 2014 by HairBear 2 Link to comment

JAHS
My brother is exempt from this campaign because he has to maintain a full beard so he can be used as an extra in the Life of Christ videos. 2 Link to comment
ERayR
My brother is exempt from this campaign because he has to maintain a full beard so he can be used as an extra in the Life of Christ videos. Why is everyone so certain that Jesus Christ had a beard? Link to comment
strappinglad
Notice everyone in the photo has a beard. It would be like one of todays 12 HAVING a beard. Perhaps it's a confusion between Nazarene and Nazarite. Link to comment
JAHS
Why is everyone so certain that Jesus Christ had a beard? A scripture in Isaiah suggests he had one; assuming the verse is about Jesus."I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting. (Isa 50: 6) Link to comment
Deborah
Why is everyone so certain that Jesus Christ had a beard? Ditto. I recall reading something from Josephus years ago who described Jesus as tall, clean shaven and short hair. I wish I knew the source but it was so long ago but it always stuck with me. Deborah
On the other hand I found these early descriptions, all with a beard and long hair but also describe his blue eyes, which is what Joseph Smith said. http://www.thenazareneway.com/likeness_of_our_saviour.htm Link to comment
thesometimesaint
While it is possible that Jesus had blue eyes. They would have been very unusual making him stand out. Link to comment
The Nehor
Why is everyone so certain that Jesus Christ had a beard? Because it probably would have been remarked about a lot if he hadn't. Culturally that was siding with the Romans which would have caused him some......issues..... Link to comment

halconero
Ditto. I recall reading something from Josephus years ago who described Jesus as tall, clean shaven and short hair. I wish I knew the source but it was so long ago but it always stuck with me. Josephus was an extreme Romano-phile, a client of the imperial Flavian family, and part of the Emperor's court. He was more than a bit biased when trying to portray Jews as good Greco-Romans. 2 Link to comment
