Calmoriah'S Latin

Recommended Posts

So I used Google Translate to, of course, translate the Latin above Calmoriah's avatar.

The Latin: Dulce de labris loquuntur, corde vivunt noxio

The English: Of sweet lips, speak, live with a criminal

This doesn't make sense! Calmoriah...I DEMAND an explanation!

Just to avoid gunfire about the Latin above my avatar...

Latin: Simul Iustus Et Peccator

English: At the same time righteous and a sinner

Makes perfect sense!

I have to use a translator. I do have a Latin phrase book which is where I found my motto, but that is the extent of my Latin at the moment.

Before my mission, I decided to teach myself Latin, that is, beyond my Latin tags. Had an Oxford dictionary and grammar, the dismal Caesaer, Virgil's Aeneid, and I believe, Cato. With the exception of the dictionary and grammar, these were the versions used in English elementary schools since the last decades of the 19th century until the 1960s. Dismal failure. I didn't know how to study languages yet.

Google says:

Ubi est balneo

I am thinking you really meant "qua est latrinum" though.

Someone with latin can tell me if "ubi" or "qua" is the more appropriate "where".
