First Advant

My Father's been in the hospital for the past few weeks, and I've been back and forth between here and there (travelling by bus, because our van needs a new engine.)

I'm still trying to locate his eye glasses, and I have no idea where my BOM is (but I would like to start reading it again, online if I have to.)

What was going on in America when Christ was born, lived, and taught in Palestine?

Where is it recorded in the BOM?

What were the signs that accompanied His birth (death, resurrection)?

I seem to remember something about some natural disasters (such as storms and earth quakes), but I don't know where to find any of this (can anyone tell me where to look?)

Start at Helaman chapter 13 and read through 3 Nephi chapter 27 and you will cover the signs and prophecies of Christ's birth, the events of His birth and death in the Americas, and his visit to the people in America after his resurrection.

As a side comment, I hope things are going well and if not well, that you are holding up. Dealing with sick loved ones can be extremely stressful even when it's on your home turf, having to do it when you have basically no control over the situation (in a hospital) is very hard indeed.

If you are interested in how some LDS scholars interpret what the disasters probably were as well as an article about interpretation of a key scripture verse that gives some nice context to the visit as well as some extensive info on seeing the visit in a temple context in the last link, see
