zelder
Wikipedia is naming the current Joseph Satati the first black African GA. http://en.wikipedia....neral_authorityI don't think that true. I remember a black GA from the nineties but I think he resigned. Who was it? Can anyone remember? Edited February 21, 2011 by zelder Link to comment
Gohan
You could be thinking of Elder Helvecio Martins. Called to the Second Quorum of the Seventy in 1990, released in 1995. He was of African descent but from Brazil if memory serves. Edited February 21, 2011 by Gohan Link to comment
Duncan
Elder Martins never resigned, Elder George P. Lee a Native American GA was excommunicated in 1989-he was the last GA to face any kind of disciplinary action, but neither Elders Martins or Lee resigned. Link to comment

Duncan
Have any African-Americans (born and raised in the USA) served as a GA?No, but Elder Joseph W. Sitati is black and was raised in Africa and was baptized in the 80's Link to comment
kolipoki09
Have any African-Americans (born and raised in the USA) served as a GA?Elijah Abel was ordained a Seventy in Dec. 1836 (though there are issues as to whether that office fulfilled any General Authority role). He served as a member of the 3rd Quorum of the Seventy until his death in 1885. Link to comment
