  1. Depending on the hour day I wake, until I fall asleep, I am probably known as many different things every day. Some are words that should not be repeated in polite company.
  2. Wow, and why? Some things are so completely perfect and such a simple part of our past, and foundation. As my Father used to tell me; “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
  3. Wow, I was very sick for a couple of months, although I had made a New Years resolution to attend every Sunday. Sadly I have only attended two Sunday’s this entire year, so for me it seems like forever. I had lost 25lbs in just two months, had to have a recording device installed in my chest, for my heart, along with so many medical tests. Since Christmas, other than one or two visits to the grocery store with my wife, my only trips out of the house have been to many specialist, and hospitals. It has been a difficult year overall everyone, which makes my issues small. Having said this, not hav
  4. Wow, via the way you guys are describing this, for a true dinosaur as myself...truly strange. 🦕
  5. This Sunday, here in Georgia, and in my Stake, the oddest meeting yet. We have not had a single Church meeting here in the Sunny South, in the last five or six months. I say “five or six”, because by now, none of us can really remember the date that all Church buildings and Temples were closed, so maybe someone could remind me. Anyway, our Stake President moved out West months ago, so in effect we don’t really have a Stake President, or we may have one and not know it. So this Sunday August 16, we will be getting a “new Stake President”, but this is not the odd part; yet? This will
  6. The hard truth is this, if they don’t find this guy, he will strike again, but it will be worse. Those who attack any such places of worship, are not people who operate under any moral code, that would curb their activities. We went through much of this here in Atlanta in my youth, the worst example was when J.B. Stoner and the klan blew up a Black Church in Birmingham, AL., killing four little girls. This is why we can only pray, he is found and stopped quickly. Because make no mistake, I know as the Police know, he is trying to muster the courage to act, and he is making those plans right n
  7. As have those seeking to water down, or cause other to have little Faith in the process of how Scripture is taught. In fact, those who have sought to cast doubt upon the “Word of God”, have been around since the “Garden of Eden”. This is prevalent within many past and present scholarly circles, because “heaven forbid”, if Scripture truly reflects the “mind and will of God”, that means he truly exists, and his laws and judgments carry eternal weight.
  8. Whom has decided that the “Book of Daniel”, is fiction? Or rather who are the “mainstream scholars”, who have deemed it so, as many of it’s prophecies have been and are coming to pass, along with the many other Prophets who have spoken of it, and echoed it’s warnings. The Book of Isaiah, which also proclaims many of the same, and was quoted by Jesus Christ, extensively, and much of it backed up by the Book of Mormon, and all of our ancient and modern day Prophets. In short, looking for a “CFR”, as the term “mainstream scholars”, reminds me that of the scripture, (too paraphrase), “the day will
  9. I pray even harder that it is not an angry ex-member, or a current disaffected one. Because it is very true, that people who do such things almost, if not always “escalate”. Not to mention whomever did this is aware that guns cannot be carried in any if our meeting places, even for those licensed, or even active or retired police, such as myself. This makes us in every way a “soft target” to such terrorists acts, including the same individual showing up in the daytime to the MTC, which would be horrifying. I know there are not as many at the MTC, as in the past, but still so many who could onl
  10. Wow, even the “Great White North”, are going back, but here in the Sunny South no? How did you manage? I am debating, if when we return, would it be proper for me to wear my Army face masks, or should go with something plain?
  11. Don’t worry, I am not talking about starting or replacing our Church meetings, are acting like I am the Bishop. But we need, we “all need” to maintain some type of structure. It is after all why we want (as much as possible) the Priesthood to be in every home. I am just blessed to have so many each Sunday, none us or seeking to become authorities unto ourselves, nor do we feel as if we don’t need the Church, but this continuing limbo of not knowing when, where, or how we will return to Church, is at times too little. In five months, we have heard from our Bishop one time in a small broadcast,
  12. I just posted something without seeing this, is this whom they believe did the shooting?
  13. I hate to say it, but in my experience with criminal acts, it is probably someone who is both angry and disaffected (probably a redundant comment), and it gives me a knot in my stomach, as I worry that is a current or former member. I pray I am very wrong, but when we used to investigate such things, we always had to look first at those most aquatinted with the victims. Of course the victim here is the institution of the Church, and more importantly it’s emissaries to the rest of the world. I will be praying that I am wrong on all accounts, if the attacks were at night, it gives me hope that
  14. All my grandchildren live in the same county, well the seven still in school. They do a three day week, and virtual two days a week. Of course the next county over is not going back, it is all a big mess. However, my grandchildren are thrilled to once again be around kids their own age, after no school or Church for five months. We still have no idea when, or if we will be allowed to return to Church. From what I have been told, those who have returned, won’t allow those in my age group to attend. We have a “virtual Stake Conference” this Sunday where we will get a new Stake President, ours mo
  15. All my grandchildren are back in school. Anyone else?
  16. I am glad that got resolved, he will be able to see and experience such great things in the Army. It was so long ago, but the things I got to see and experience changed my life forever. In fact it was while I was stationed in Germany in the late 70’s, early 80’s, where my wife and I found the Church, and were sealed in the Swiss Temple in 1981. Go Army!
  17. That is the “gift and curse” of being a Prophet, knowing and seeing that which is wonderful, and awful.
  18. True he could have chosen to live, but it was to this very mission to which he was born. To live, as we live, to suffer, as we all do to varying degrees, and to rise from the dead. What made it so important, and impactful, is that he had the “free will” to chose. Knowing the agony and sin he would have to take upon him, so much so that he “hoped and prayed for another way. Even with the knowledge, he submitted himself to the Father’s will, setting aside his own will. Sadly in that day, “the cross” was the manor in which the Romans used, so we should not loose site, and remember that we worship
  19. There are all valid points, as we are a conservative Church. The “marijuana” comments fall well within the “Word of Wisdom”, addressing smoking.. But doing so for medical reasons, makes sense, as recognizes (from what I have been told) it helps greatly with nausea, from chemotherapy. But any going through this, via cancer, need to take care around their children, i. e., being locked it up. Because In the past, Mormons did not hide their liquor, under lock n key. Because they would need, or have as liquor in out homes, anyway.
  20. Is this directed at me? If so I did not suggest you are, “living in fear”.
  21. It was not an indictment of any kind, just to poll the room.
  22. As I prayed for him as well, no matter how badly he acted, I still wish that no one dies. Nor for his blameless wife to suffer over someone she truly loved.
