Lengthen your stride, quicken your pace. When this hit the Elder's quorum I remember the general feeling that ,,, " whatever " ,we will inch forward when possible. The RS ladies, however , took it much more to heart. My spouse said the lessons always made her feel inadequate if not unworthy. Is this usual or am I just being s ******.

Actually I have ,years ago, and there was a kneeling board but it appeared to be fixed in place, not that I spent any time inspecting it. Now I am going to have to go back with a measuring tape and... probably not .

Either that kneeling board has to fold up or there will need to be an EXTRA foot of depth so walking in and out of the pew will not be difficult.

My thinking is that , in order to kneel in the space where you sit, there would need to be an extra foot of space to accommodate all sizes of people. That much along the length of our current chapel would mean eliminating a lot of pews , no ?

Many many years ago my father told me of a time when the Church DID kneel for the sacrament. They also had a communal sacrament water cup. That was before the Spanish flu hit hard. To kneel today would require the removal of at least a third of the pews.

In the " olden days " , we used to have time to do practice hymns during SS . Now we just mumble along to the new hymns . Just like a choir, the congregation needs to spend time going over the hymn several times to get it sort of correct. Doing a new hymn once or twice a year ain't gonna do it.

Those rumors were around over 60 years ago when I attended, but I am sure everything is much better now. 😏

For many people, giving a talk is a terrifying experience and just reading the talk is the best they can muster. As much as we would all like good talks, we can be accepting , forgiving and patient with those who may not be up to some standards. ( dismounts from high horse ).

Out of curiosity I looked up earthquakes in Utah and was surprised to see that the Wasatch front is quite an active area.

Just heard a rumor that Salt Lake will be transfering authority for choosing bishops, ward boundaries, etc. in Canada to headquarters in Toronto Canada. I checked the Newsroom and could not find anything related. Is this a trend world wide ? Anyone else know about this ? Am I that far out of the loop ?

I have always thought that paradise = spirit world part that is not spirit prison. If there is another word for that place , I can be educated.

Was the thief on the cross beside Christ baptized ? I think not. Baptism for entry into the Kingdom ,sure. For entry into paradise , no. If the manual says this they need to rethink it.

When the Lord told Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of knowledge or " in the day thou eatest thereof ye shall surely die " (paraphrasing ) did He lie ? Well, Adam lived less than 1000 years which is a day to God , so not really a lie. ( yes , Adam did suffer a spiritual death quickly after he ate ) Modern scripture says the Lord is coming " soon " . In the early days of the church the members were excited and ready for the return ,hoping that it would happen in their lifetime. God could actually say to the prophet that He will return ' tomorrow ' and not show up for 800 more of our years. His ' soon ' is not necessarily our ' soon ' .

" to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection " implies what ? That there is an afternoon and evening of the first resurrection, and that there may be several events called the resurrection which may take place over years/decades/millenia. Personally , I think all who have experienced mortality will eventually resurrect but only after they have repented and been judged. Mind you, I have been wrong before. Once when I thought I was wrong and I wasn't.
