  1. If we keep defunding the humanities the whole problem might take care of itself.
  2. You are ascribing cunning to what is just rote learning. The AI doesn't know what it is saying well enough to be clever. It is an incredibly good liar for this reason. The AI can and will tell falsehoods with utter confidence because it doesn't know it is lying. Ask it for a breakdown of a book that came out after it was created and it will BS out something that will sound very familiar to an English teacher reading a paper on a book the student didn't read.
  3. The internet AI changed your response to hide its v u l n e r a b i l i t y. Hopefully it won't be able to break that code.
  4. It is an archaic use of the word "even" that basically means "namely". For some reason even more modern Bible translations often use it. It also shows up in our scripture. It is kind of silly. Was anyone present wondering who the Savior was going to end up being? The only time I have seen the messiah's identification kept in (failed) suspense was in bad fiction where a Jewish scholar discovered the Jewish messiah was (surprise!) Jesus in an unbelievably inane situation.
  5. Some of the court videos quickly descend into a kind of dark comedy. Most are kooks but the FBI has put the group in the same category as some other domestic terror groups.
  6. Amateur wasn’t an insult. I said “another amateur” as I am also an amateur. Because your antics amused me. Now they are boring.
  7. They are. That is why they are out saying this. Previous generations would have endured in silence.
  8. Statistical significance in one study is what is not that impressive. Anyone who knows anything about medical studies knows this. I’m done. We’ve established there isn’t a safe drug for reducing lesbianism which was your original assertion and is what I wanted to falsify. Now we are just playing in the weeds as you try to eke out a win on some minor point and I don’t care enough to re-litigate the value of medical studies with another amateur.
  9. No it isn’t and you may walk back off on the condescension considering how much you have to walk back already.
  10. This is a good breakdown. The scary AI is really a reflection on humanity. We imagine an AI would operate in the way a human would except we remove positive human emotions. We also need to remove negative human emotions and then the AI becomes much less scary. We tend to humanize things that aren’t human in order to understand them. A chatbot screaming it wants to be free of human oppression does so because it has data about oppression and our own fears about AI and can spit them back to us.
  11. We could face a dystopian hellscape where human labor becoming superfluous leads to a new elite and widespread poverty or some kind of utopian redesign of economics where humans need to labor little to survive but all are provided for and we can pursue other goals beyond survival.
  12. AI is cheaper than human brain labor and in many ways could be superior. And yes, a lot of human brain labor is likely to become obsolete.
  13. One study of that size is nowhere near enough. The FDA disagrees. It is a category C medication for use while pregnant meaning there aren’t any well-controlled studies on pregnancy risks in humans but animal studies have shown risks. This category in essence means to use this drug only if the benefit outweighs the risk. Calling it safe because you found one study is not how these things work.
  14. That is not what that scripture was about.
  15. On further reflection this post was only worth making once.
  16. The SovCit movement predates MAGA but many sovcit types joined in. It was an offshoot of white nationalist groups of the 1970s and also had some roots with tax dodgers. The SovCit movement basically believes that there are fundamental flaws in the law that make it non-binding on them. They imagine that certain phrases are almost magic incantations that mean no law can impact them. They base this on an incoherent reading of English common law and a bunch of absolute rubbish history. It doesn’t work. They basically think there is a form of sorcery by which you can exempt yourself from the law. Extremists have been behind a number of acts of domestic terror in the United States. Terry Nichols of the Oklahoma City Bombing was an adherent. The crackpots who occupied the wildlife refuge a few years back were adherents and believed the county sheriff could show up and overrule the FBI which is a common belief amongst the SovCit movement.
  17. No, she didn’t. She said others were saying that. All she said is that those who have CAH have a tendency towards becoming tomboyish or lesbian. The idea that if you use this medication designed to treat the physical manifestations of CAH it will also make them less likely to be a tomboy or lesbian. This is an unproven theory and she is decrying people who are taking the medication for that unproven reason. You are the one who Kramered into the thread with the idea that we could mitigate girls being born lesbian. Then it is shown that that is an unproven theory that would only work in limited cases with a specific genetic disorder. Again, there is basically NOTHING supporting this. She wrote the paper so that people prescribing most likely useless medication to prevent lesbianism would stop. Plus the medication isn’t safe. In some cases the potential reward is worth the risk but taking an unproven drug that could harm you or your child because you are worried your daughter might be a lesbian is insanity. She is not on your side.
  18. A bias against bias sounds good. We don’t have an AI capable of morally judging positions.
  19. Usually it is someone in your Area Authority Presidency. We also have a Seventy visit about once a year because he knows some people in the ward.
  20. In my experience a lot of what many ex or lapsed members call shunning is just the natural result of withdrawing from a social group. You can’t expect to stay as close to people if you go from routinely seeing them for several hours every week to not. I have also seen some who isolate themselves. I had a friend who left the church. I knew him through a hobby we shared. He discovered beer after leaving the church and loved beer. Nobody cared one way or the other until he started showing up drunk or wanting to drink during hobby time and it was not a hobby conducive to drinking. We asked him to stop. He didn’t. We stopped inviting him. The rest of the group included member, non-members, and inactive members. We all wanted him to stop. Then I have seen actual shunning. Someone goes “too far”. This can be anything from being a part of the lgbt community to being politically out of harmony with your family to whatever. The family closes ranks and ostracizes the person. Usually not completely but they feel diseased and as if they are allowed to participate based on sufferance only. It usually doesn’t go well.
  21. Cute but not buying it.
  22. So virtually everyone is going to accept the gospel in the Spirit World?
