Evolving Views Since Joining Mormon Dialogue
Damien the Leper replied to ZealouslyStriving's topic in General Discussions
I was never part of ZLMB. I wish I had been. I remember back to when I first started posting here 15 years ago. I was always up and down, angry, frustrated. I was not of the right emotional state to be posting on this board. It took several years for me to just let go. I realized that Mormonism wasn't a one size fits all. However, I have found a love for Mormonism from the outside because it is far more nuanced than I previously gave it credit for. Sometimes I miss some of the hardliners who used to post here such as ERayR, Russell C. McGregor (aka Pahoran), Selek, and Wade Englund. In the end, I wish them well. I joined the Catholic faith 4 years ago. Time has flown. I've learned so much from @MiserereNobis, @3DOP, and @Saint Bonaventure. Reading their posts always remind me of the absolute joy I've found in our shared faith. On another note, I still believe that @Calm is @Nemesis. -
Evolving Views Since Joining Mormon Dialogue

One thing that I felt was juvenile and condescending was when my bishops would hear my doubts and then tell me to put them on some silly metaphorical (?) shelf. Then when I would speak to other exMos they would ask me what broke my shelf. Ugh! I never had a shelf! -

I was but a shell of a creature waiting to blossom into a Catholic with a deep love of Eastern Orthodoxy. -

This is quite the fantasy that mortals will never accomplish. -

Apologies. I like that there is no physical or divine authority in your Zionic living. -

Still doesn't explain the failings of the early church in Utah. The Utah church will likely never be able to fully live that Law. -

So there is no governing authority, then? The early Utah members, including authorities, were an epic failure of the Law. -

Would he say the same about the Law of Consecration which is essentially socialism+a god? -

A prime example of this is Reaganomics and the cancer that is "trickle down" economics. -

The kleptocracy that played into further Russian economic disintegration came from money being funneled into the pockets of oligarchs and KGB members by the U.S. to suppress the "free market" and to subjugation and essentially enslave post-USSR Russians. -

Yes. See the U.S. for example. -
We Actually Do Know that Literal “Spirits” Aren’t Real

Considering the extensive economic failures post-USSR and US involvement in helping to establish the system that would fail and continues to fail to this day, I find it hard to believe there is any "magic" involved. -

The same could be said for Ayn Rand and the free-market hoax. -
The Family Proclamation and the NHS

Apologies. I'm allowing unqualified righteous indignation to influence an emotional tactic to elicit an equally emotional response (use of bigot) rather than to rationally discuss the problematic nature of the ban in the first place. -

My sister does not have self-defense experience. What we have as grandchildren is growing up with a grandfather, who was born in a traditional southwest cowboy home with all the gender roles who taught us to combat false institutions such as gender roles or heteronormativity or anything of the like. We were taught to show those who think of us as lesser our absolute ire with violence as a last resort. -

Please provide a reference where BY explicitly stated this without using unclear language. This is a sincere CFR for a direct quote with source. -
The Family Proclamation and the NHS

The point is to never assume anything about the gender of the person. Her ex's disadvantage was that he was a male who considered himself, albeit arrogantly as any other male who consider themselves, to be "alpha". Essentially, his maleness was the disadvantage in this case. -

I will admit that I am probably wrong. Perhaps in the hereafter I'll ask the Blacks if they received their priesthood and endowment in heaven or by compensational proxy ordinances done on earth. -

Blacks held the priesthood before the bigot ban. Just clarifying. -

Is it just me or is conservativism not restricted only to politics? Did you see Smac's post where he embedded a PragerU (a highly politically driven institution)? Yet there was silence from you then. When I saw a 145lb woman knock an arrogant, beefcake, 270lb man who thought his gender, size and musculature were his advantage, on his rear... it became clear that his arrogance and presupposed advantage became his obvious disadvantage. I'm also proud to call that woman my biological sister. And I welcome any man to try what that man tried. The divorce was just the topping on the cake afterward. -

PragerU isn't some objective, well-reasoned, articulate, or well-meaning institution. It is of the same breed of vipers found in the Heritage Foundation, Breitbart, etc.
