Meanwhile in Bavaria...

An interesting way to signal islamophobia before an election and that is definitely what this is about.

Meanwhile the Churches over there do a ton more for the poor, their divorce rate is lower and for the most part their society does more for the least of these.  Also businesses are closed on Sunday and major holidays.

Let's take a good look at the USA, we demonize the homeless, racism is making a huge comeback here and income inequality as well as opportunities that once were there are quickly drying up.  All for our own people taking a good look in the mirror before we point the finger of blame.

I did not make any comparisons. I just hate stunts like this. As our current president is performing much more ridiculous stunts to signal his racism I am not implying a moral high ground.

It appears that racism is making a comeback over there too.  I think it is almost sacrilegious to use the cross, a symbol of Christ’s sacrifice and atonement for all, as a hostile tool of division instead of inclusion and hospitality.

Yes, their society does more for the “least of these” because their hands are tied by their Robin Hood style government as their pockets are picked, and they don’t really have a choice in the matter.  It is called socialism.  Love it or hate it, socialism is not an expression of good-will from free-will.

Speaking of causal chains, if Hungary isn't the Turks' imperial playground for centuries, and the Magyars their playthings, Hungary isn't building double concertina wire border fences, 14' high, electrified, to stop Muslims' treating Hungary like their own pitch.

Bavarians, seeing the unfettered access given to their ancient kingdom by Junkers in Berlin and The Hague to ever growing numbers of foreign Invaders, need to express their frustrations and fears in ways that'll make the issue clear.

Call it islamophobia if it pleases you, but they're entitled to spout off, as I see it. Arrogant, pushy Junkerkrauts aren't well liked in the south during the best of times. When those arrogant trendylefty putzes impose unpopular policies in their traditional doormat subjugants, it's a recipe for far worse than Catholics spouting off at lapsed Protestant uebermenschen.

This was a stunt by a far right guy worried a further right quasi-fascist would challenge him for his position so he needed these news articles for propaganda. If it was a shot across the bow at Berlin it was a pathetic misfire.

It's not like it's a new thing. Hitler chose Munich for his putsch precisely because southern Germans would be more likely to cooperate with the schicklgruber agenda, giving the bifke-marmaladinge Berliners a black eye.

Very true. I am not suggesting it is new. Nothing new under the sun and all that.

I live in southern Germany. Nehor's assessment is on point. Racism is very much alive in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Not to mention that there is also no separation of church and state in Germany. The government collects a church tax if you're a member of a main denomination (Catholic or Evangelical, typically).

Refugees and immigrants are viewed in much the same way as they are in Trump country. As an immigrant myself (American), I have experienced some of this, although to a much lesser extent because I'm white.

Divorce rates are lower because people just don't care much about getting married in the first place. Businesses are closed on Sunday and holidays, not out of a sense of religious devotion, but because people don't want to work on those days and Germans are very resistant to changing the way things have always been done. Churches are very empty on Sundays, while the lakes and recreational areas are packed full.

On the other hand, Germany does do much better in taking care of the poor.

Every country in the world has things they do well and things they do poorly. Ideally, we would all just try to learn from each other and make the world a better place. But unfortunately, most people are more interested demonstrating their superiority and their own side winning than actually learning and improving.

All "code" for demonizing the Constitutional Republic of the USA.  Brings to mind this phrase:

Matthew 7:3–5
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

From what I know Bavaria has crosses everywhere already just out of tradition. I wonder how many new crosses this will actually require. I wonder if anyone does. Again, I think this is more of an abstract “virtue” signal to voters.

If you are suggesting that anyone here has a beam in their eye sufficiently large that the problems of the United States are a mote by comparison.........are you suggesting poptart is some kind of serial killer?

I guess it could be worse. You could be saying it about Russia or China or North Korea. Then he would have to be perdition.

That part I agree with.  TBH I saw the racism part kicking in before 2016.  Anglos are loosing the demographic battle and in many cases the financial one.  Trump managed to get the religious right as well as the neo nazis on his side yet I think they're fighting a loosing battle.  I know a few people who think Trump was sent by God, he's about as Christian as the Dali Lama is Catholic.

How popular is the Afd down there?  From what i've read they're getting quite popular.

Jesus was a bit of a socialist I think, just saying.  Seen it with Christians here all the time, cherrypicking.

Ahh, ye olde don't judge me defence people here use all the time.  I came up with a hash tag for em, #notallchristians.

Considering i've heard that stuff from people who are either white and grew up in the suburbs with 2 parents or people who are just degenerate garbage who believe it's their right to ruin their lives and have the rest of us clean up their mess, yeah that argument means nothing to me.

BTW, our constitutional republic came about from a bunch of Deists, esp. Freemason deists who were sick of the corruption of the church.  Sure he'd be rolling in his grave if he saw what a mockery the evangelical right was making of the sacrifice so many made to give us the constitution and this great country.  One of my favorite paintings of our first Commander in Chief, bet this makes many of the contemporary religious folks blood boil lol.

Why the blood boil?  Maybe it is seeing it on a phone, but missing the issue.

Just struck me, the apron?  Assume it is Mason stuff.

Is that a gallows off to the side and is it going up or coming down?

Wanted to ask, just how well is the LDS church doing over there?  I'd imagine in places like Germany and France where Beer/wine is a huge part of life the LDS faith isn't all too popular.

I don’t recall him forcing people to give to the poor, or even encouraging such a thing.  Jesus appealed to to the hearts of man rather than the government to self enforce what is right.

My interpretation when reading the new testament was Jesus was a socialist and probably would be in favor of some form of it, good luck getting that to fly with most Christians here.

Yep, George Washington was the first Masonic Grandmaster of the USA, he was also a deist as were most of the Founding Fathers.

Ohh you don't know that?  Bit of an interesting history lesson for you.  Freemasons and Churches here used to work together a lot more back in the day, what charity they could not pick up in their local community the masons would.  It wasn't until the 50s and 60s when a few mostly evangelical people tried to get in and were denied due to poor character that the attacks started.  Most of the mainline bodies here save the Episcopals and ELCA Lutherans hate their guts, it's power and competition for money and resources.  The Catholic Church has always hated them, they're still bitter over France and Mexico.  Funny how they accuse the Freemasons of almost anything and everything under the sun yet they've done very little if anything over their own corruption and child abuse.

The real Irony is how Joseph Smith got in a lot of hot water with the Grand Lodge of Illinois yet you guys are more than tolerant of the craft, infact I think the current (He may not be anymore...) Grandmaster for the state of Utah is a BYU grad.  Leave it to Mormons to be shrewd and practical, always loved that trait.

He didn't force em but the whole thing about it being easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle?  That's quite explicit when you think about hellfire and brimstone being the alternative.  Also hey, people have used the bible forever to justify just about whatever they want.  One of my personal favs, right of kings and slavery.  Love how there were pews in churches in the south that were rented out by very wealthy slave owners.

Demonizing is your forte.  Engaging in ad hominem attacks is your usual knee-jerk option.  Before he ran for the presidency, he was feted by the elite establishment, hollywood, and the press.  He appeared on Oprah a few times and made numerous charitable assistances for all kinds of people.

CFR on any "ridiculous stunts to signal his racism" at any point since his election  (and make sure you don't leave out anything that Clinton and Obama have not done routinely in their administrations).
