You're right. No Christian in any denomination is the same and do not approach those goals, if they do at all, the same way. There is no perfect or best general idea of how to reach those goals. Normal is poor word choice.

Within Judaism, they have what they call "Sunday School," which entails actual serious study of Hebrew language, talmudic tradition, specific prayers, and the like.  That is in addition to regular attendance at Sabbath services on Saturday in the synagogue.  This is particularly convenient in the West, since we normally have a two-day weekend.

Students who attend seminary are taught the gospel of Jesus Christ, which would seem to be the ultimate example of higher learning.  ......................

Anyone can learn the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that is in no sense a matter of higher learning.  Even illiterate people can learn it.  Higher education is an entirely different matter.

Those "illiterate" people who follow the Savior's gospel will on day receive "all that my Father hath" (D&C 84:38).  Higher education cannot promise that.  Which is of more worth?  Which can take you "higher"?

You're preaching to the choir.  Jesus couldn't care less about the degrees in higher ed.  It's the pretending that rankles Him.
