A Story about healing.

Recommended Posts

This is only a story for purposes of thought. It did not really occur.

You move into a new ward/branch.  After some time you feel something is different and finally you see it, no one in this unit is sick or has any physical problems at all, nothing not even common ailments.  You ask questions and members admit that your observations are correct.  They will not however speak about any reasons why.  Time passes and you make a friend. This friend says that they are the only one apart from the person who is the healer of the ward/branch who knows who it is. They say that two things have to happen for someone in the unit to be healed, firstly the healer has to have met the person (like hello how are you sort of thing) then if that person gets sick the healer only has to pray that they will be healed and they are.  You do not know to laugh or cry you have never heard of such a thing but then a loved one living with you gets very sick.  So you do what you know, Blessings maybe more than one (they help but no cure) Doctors etc...  Then one day your loved one is completely cured overnight  Now you start to believe your friend and you want to know who the healer is. Your friend says the person does not want to be identified period.  Members start calling you after your loved one is healed saying things like they themselves would be dead, their child would be crippled, their spouse would be in bed for the rest of their days without the healings in the unit. They urge you to leave it alone do not seek this person out.

Please answer honestly Would you seek them out or Would you leave it alone.

I would urge everyone to quit ascribing the healing to the instrument instead of the healer (God). Serious case of idolatry in this ward.

I'd leave it alone, in the sense that I would simply thank God, and Jesus Christ for the atonement which has the very capacity that you describe.   And I'd express to Him that if I could ever be that healer for someone, I'd be willing to do that too.

Ooh!  Go into business with this guy, selling ward members placebos dressed up as "healer approved miracle cures"!    There are dollars to be made here, dollars I tells ya!

When as a kid I read comics that advertised Powerful Placebos for sale.  I honestly did not know or care just wanted to read the comic over and over again.

Priestcraft can be quite lucrative. The Tammy Wards of today make Simon the Sorceror look like a chump.

I wish I did not have a conscience. I think I would be good at selling snake oil.

Wow, look at the savings on the platinum package. You would have to be a fool not to buy in:

I know many well see the man that Jesus healed of leprosy and was told by Jesus to tell no one but then he told everyone.

That is not what the story is about.

Then is it about when Jezebel was pushed out of a window and her corpse eaten by dogs?

Or about a prophet siccing bears on people?

Am I getting close?

It is about those that benefit from the way things are, but then maybe some that benefited risking upsetting the way things are.  So not taking the safest route for all.

Nothing in the OP had to do with money.

I don't get sick.

All kinds of things come through the ward, schools, family--I don't get sick.

I think I had food poisoning on Jan 1.  The last time I recall being sick before then had to have been over five years ago.

Or I should say, I don't get infectious diseases.

But I have been low energy sick and such from improper eating most of my life, and 'emotionally' and 'mentally sick' also from nutritional deficiencies.  Which for the most part I have learned to solve i.e. new habits.  But that has taken me decades.

I will pray for you that your good health increases and remains stable.  The Lord always felt compassion for those that suffer in the body.  To me it seems that even as some will be sick in this world he really disdains that it must be IMO.

From the answers that I am getting I have a strong feeling that this board does not like stories. Fair enough and duly noted.

I will not be posting anymore stories.

If it pleases you, post.  People who don’t like stuff can pass.  There’s someone for everyone.

I don't mind if people pass but they have not been on this topic. Did you see what was posted.

Needs more plot twists and better characterization. I did not understand the motivation for the characters either.

We receive blessings all the time in this life without knowing precisely from whence they came. In all situations, we still thank God for his mercy and kindness towards us, our families, friends, and community. I don't really see a difference with the proposition you have presented here. No, I would not seek out the individual; however, I may be more encouraged to join my own prayers to heal others.

I believe that the gifts of the Spirit are real. Some truly have a gift of prayer and others of healing.
