No. They did not specify Oct Gen Con. Link to comment

Elder Bednar told us nearly four years ago that massive structural and administrative changes were coming, and I've reported that here on and off ever since. I'm not sure any of that quite = 'The hype for this conference came from the Brethren themselves'. Anything else? I'm not the one making the claims. I just simply posted where I had seen the quotes about the snowflake in a blizzard type statements on here for you to read (link from the other thread posted by Duncan).. It certainly was inferred (IMO) or there wouldn't have been the excitement and rampant speculations going on (some in the ward were pretty crazy about it). I did read where at least one church leader mentioned October when they were speaking to a group of missionaries. We're here on the thread already talking about the next conference! It surely got people to sit up and take notice and make sure they didn't miss watching conference I was already planning on watching and didn't pay much attention to all the speculations....some at least came from the leaders comments (from what I could tell). I'm not sure why this is such an issue for some and why a few here are so defensive about it....I agree that's a bit strange to see (their defensiveness). let’s roll
My take is that there’s some sensitivity around the characterization about what leaders said as “hype.” Remove that term and I believe there would be consensus that recent statements by Church leaders have led to a heightened level of interest and excitement among many members about what announcements might be made at subsequent General Conferences. 1 Link to comment

IIRC Pres. Nelson recently made some kind of statement to the effect that the amount of revelation today is "unprecedented". I'm not sure how a statement like that could be taken seriously, but whatever. Leaders are ratcheting up the expectations. IMO it is their own problem when they don't live up to those expectations. Are the brethren "twitter Mormons" or rather "Twitter members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints"? Or are they just trying to capitalize on Twitterers by attempting to maximize excitement for conference? I see President Hinckley as being the opposite of President Nelson, with him you didn't know what was coming down the tailpipe and he just would announce stuff, all new Temples, Nauvoo Temple, conference centre, etc. That's the thing if you build a pedestal what you put on it better be worth the building of it. I prefer the Pres. Hinckley approach myself but I am not in charge Link to comment
