I'm actually getting quite pumped about whatever interesting changes will be coming forth starting today in General Conference.

Watching right now. I wish the Tab Choir didn't have to all dress alike. Their outfits remind me of the FLDS, I wish they could just wear street clothes. But do remember my Jr. High choir dress, it was putrid yellow.

Just heard President Oaks refer to the choir formerly known as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as the "Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square"!   Way to go!

Yes, I'm outside of Utah. I thought the Choir toured quite a bit, or a least had touring "teams" as a significant outreach effort for (from!) the Church. I also recall the announcer on the Sunday a.m. broadcast saying, “From the Crossroads of the West, we welcome you to Temple Square in Salt Lake City for Music and the Spoken Word with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.” I guess he will now say, “From the Crossroads of the West, we welcome you to Temple Square in Salt Lake City for Music and the Spoken Word with the Tabernacle Choir At Temple Square." And when they visit my area, they will be introduced as the Tabernacle Choir At Temple Square... but they're actually here." Very confusing!

Right. It's called latter-day revelation. It is what God has decided what is needed at this time. Just like a lot of other changes that have happened in the past 170 years.

Obviously you haven’t seen the choir broadcast for quite some time. It has been years since that “crossroads of the West” line has been a part of it. 

The choir, with its sister organization, the Orchestra at Temple Square, goes on tour on average once every two years. Other than some occasional one-off appearances here and there, the other performances are at Temple Square, including the yearly Pioneer Day and Christmas concerts, visiting conventions, the weekly broadcast, recording sessions, and, of course, the twice-yearly general conference. 

(I used the Oxford comma just then in honor of Mesere Nobis.)

Sure. you bet.

Just because something happens “now” doesn't necessarily make it sudden. It may have taken the church membership (or the world) 170 years to be ready for the change.

I don’t understand why the guys get to wear ‘real’ clothes - suits - and women have to wear something they would never actually wear anywhere else. Awful pattern and colors. Why not black skirts with a blouse in a design and colors that exist in the real world?

I think it's great that so many of these performances are broadcast to the world from Temple Square! It's as if the Choir is from Temple Square!

Men have 3 choices: a suit and tie, a suit and tie, or a suit and tie. They can't even get creative with the tie.

Women have a myriad of choices, but getting them all to agree on something is... problematic.

Maybe all can just wear a black robe?

So I guess all those who were getting revelation somehow missed this earth shattering change.  Somehow I doubt it and this shows the LDS leaders have no better access to God than anyone else.

Nope. Just don't know your background. If you don't believe then there's no point in trying to explain something you won't accept anyway.
Moving to a 2 hour schedule is another change we need for our time. Doesn't mean past prophets were wrong for having a 3 hour meeting time. 
Going forward using the correct name for the church is what we need now.

So we're supposed to emphasize the name of Christ but the new name for MOTAB doesn't have the name of Christ anywhere in it? Same goes for "The Newsroom's" new name?
