Duncan
Do you think they will announce any new Temples this time around? I know Elder Wilson gave that interview and said they have 80 sites under consideration. I suspect, hope? they announce a Temple in Nigeria, I looked at the Aba Temple there and they serve 43 Stakes and 17 Districts. I hope India gets a Temple, just for sheer distance to the Hong Kong Temple. I know Pres. Kimball hinted at a Scotland Temple and that would be nice to see them get one. Do you think they''ll announce any new ones this time around? Link to comment

Popular Post Alan
There won't be a temple in Scotland any time soon. We should get one in Yorkshire though, because every time we go to the temple we have to cross into enemy territory - Lancashire. 7 Link to comment

The Hindu people love temples, but I am not sure that a Mormon temple would be welcome -- unless we build a beautiful one, like the Muslim mausoleum which Shah Jahan built for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal -- the Taj Mahal in Agra. We should likewise use white marble. 1 Link to comment
Robert F. Smith
Another thing: Hindu temples feature puja: the worship of gods in which the god is washed, anointed, clothed, and fed each day. Whereas we do ancestral puja: washing, anointing, and clothing rituals by proxy for our deceased ancestors., as well as for ourselves. 1 Link to comment

They feed them and treat them as welcome guests. 1 Link to comment

Popular Post Hamba Tuhan
George Q. Cannon: 'Every foundation stone that is laid for a Temple, and every Temple completed … lessens the power of Satan on the earth, and increases the power of God and Godliness' ('The Logan Temple', Millennial Star, 12 Nov. 1877, 743). John A. Widtsoe: 'Men grow mighty under the results of temple service; women grow strong under it; the community increases in power; until the devil has less influence than he ever had before. The opposition to truth is relatively smaller if the people are engaged actively in the ordinances of the temple' (Utah Genealogical and Historical Magazine, vol. XII, 1921, 49-64). I share your hopes! 5 Link to comment

Scott Lloyd
The Salt Lake Valley could use another temple, perhaps in my hometown of Sandy. For quite a while I've felt that the Granite Mountain Temple Quarry at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon would be a fitting location for a temple. That's where the rock was quarried to build the Salt Lake Temple. The Church still owns the property. The rock for a new temple could be quarried there on site for a new temple as a fitting homage to the pioneers who built the Salt Lake Temple. The Church's genealogical records vault is across the canyon road from the quarry. The symbolism is rich. A name for the temple? The Granite Mountain Utah Temple, of course. You heard it here first, folks. Edited September 27, 2017 by Scott Lloyd 1 Link to comment

Judd
I'm not expecting any to be announced but if so I'd say 1-2, among them Managua, Nicaragua. Possibly Cape Verde. My wild card is always Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, but I still think that's a ways off. Most likely in US (outside the Book of Mormon Belt): Bentonville, Arkansas, or a dark horse location nobody expects or could predict (think Star Valley or Winnipeg [but I think it'd be hard to justify]). Most likely within Mormon corridor: Tooele or Layton. My final answer is Managua, Nicaragua, as the sole announcement. Link to comment

Well...I hear there are a lot of new converts in that area. As for me, the only temple announcement I'm waiting for is on a certain piece of land in Independence Missouri. I hear it's going to be the biggest temple yet. Link to comment
