I grow old ... I grow old,

Recommended Posts

Me too, Robert... for me...  Flame, enjoy your day!

I consider my prime to have been the years from about 40  -  55...  then suddenly the years seemed to go faster somehow... how could that possibly be?!  I look back fondly at age 57... so I say to you, Flame... do have a wonderful day.  (Loved the poem)

My wife suggests you buy a motorcycle and hang out in sleazy bars with lusty bleached blondes.

Your taste in gender.

So, what were your wife's advice to you??? You obviously did something right to survive the midlifer. Glad you made it and hopefully survive a lot more.

Lovely ;birthday poem, Flame.

I wish I was a young 57 once more . . .

I don't know about wishing that...  I rather like being 65!  Feels like Senior Spirit!  :-)

I went back Catholic for eight years, then came back to Mormon.

Don't know which represents  my midlife crises.

I've heard of midlife crisis.  But I never had one.  Maybe mine will take place when I'm 90.  Assuming I make it that far.

I am told it is supposed to hit between 35 and 55. I want to do something productive with mine instead of buying a sports car and slipping into depression worried I wasted my life.

What are your thoughts?

You could sell everything or put it in storage and go serve the poor in a third world country, become a non medical Paul Farmer type.

B

I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?

I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.

I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.

I have seen them riding seaward on the waves

Combing the white hair of the waves blown back

When the wind blows the water white and black.

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea

By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown

Till human voices wake us, and we drown

Today I am 57 years old.

Not old yet my friend.  Maybe in another 25 years.

My skillset is unlikely to help much overseas. I volunteer to help displaced CPS kids and that I can do well. I think I am going to set up to retire early. Will easily work if I never find anyone.

I need to plan my mid-life crisis soon. Any tips?

Give the neighbors reverse Mohawks while they sleep. Then , the next morning, watch what hats they opt to wear on their way out the door.

Or you could go boring/cliche and TP their bushes and trees.

Or take up bee keeping and mahjong.
