I never blamed the victim, I am simply trying to tell the difference between miracles and chance.

So why do so some LDS tell stories of God helping them avoid a violent attack?

Does God intervene yes or no? and how can we tell the difference.

This is a topic for another thread; please stop it.

This is our mission. We haven't  met the injured missionaries,  but we saw President Babin on Sunday at Stake Conference.

I'm sure our ward missionaries are especially shaken up over this :(

Also everyone, it now looks like one of those injured was the Mission President.

I think the older missionary was a former MP.

The current Paris, France MP made a statement for the Deseret News article.

Honestly when something like this happens, something really bad/terrible/evil I mean, my first thought is usually something about how much trouble the evil-doers are in for causing that bad/terrible/evil thing to happen.

The missionaries who got injured have the least to worry about, in an eternal perspective,  while the people who blew themselves up and caused all of that harm to other people are in some very big trouble.

Better to die and go to paradise than to blow yourself up and go to spirit prison.  And if the missionaries don't die I'm pretty sure they would be even more anxious to try to help more people avoid getting themselves in as much trouble as those people who blew themselves up and harmed/killed other people too besides themselves.

You live in the Paris mission field?  Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys over there.  From the November Paris attacks to the Brussels bombings, there is a lot of tragedy happening in your mission right now.

Also, they were at the airport to come home...this is awful.

KSL just said that the two younger male missionaries and the older missionary were escorting a sister missionary to the airport.  They were sending her off on her mission to Ohio.  Thankfully, she was not injured.

That's what the Deseret News said. (Of course, these days, in this situation, they are pretty much the same source.)

Why? Is my sincere question apostasy? Did I make fun of them?

I suggest that you discuss this with the person in charge of teaching you good manners.

In the meantime, I suggest that you open a new thread, "Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people".

No!  He helps some but not all, which is heartwrenching/breaking to me.

My local news just said there was a sister missionary that was injured making it 4 missionaries injured.

On TV News they posted pictures of the three and all were Elders.

From http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3504503/Brussels-attack-leaves-three-American-Mormon-missionaries-injured.html

Elder Empey's mother updated friends and supporters on Facebook to assure them that their son has been in contact with them. They revealed he has shrapnel in his ankle and suffered burns.
She wrote on Facebook: 'Our hearts are broken for all those that lost their lives in the terror attack in Brussels today.
'We are grateful that Elder Empey and his companion Elder Wells are okay. A Senior missionary and sister missionary were also with them.
'They were all injured but getting treatment and doing well. Dres will need surgery on a leg wound and does have some shrapnel in his ankles and knee.
'He has some 2nd degree burns to his hands and head. He has been in contact with us. We would all like to thank you for your love and prayers. Love the Empey Family.'

Yep, KSL is now changing their story and has confirmed that the sister was also injured.

Excuse the Army veteran coming out in me but scr*w the quesions about Why Does God Permit Evil right now.

Praying for your missionaries, their families, and for all the injured.

I think you have expressed the consensus that most of us here have, notwithstanding the indelicate phrasing.

I am hoping they will be okay.  I feel for those who are a witness to these things as they are also acquainted with so many there.  It will be a big life changing moment for many including all of us.

I pray they recover as well.

Yes, scr*w that question, definitely.  Another Army veteran here.  Scott, "scr*w" is not indelicate -- it's Harvey Milquetoast compared to what I was used to for 8 glorious years.

So, flameburns623, when were you in, and what did you do?  '75 - '83 here, and 11C, 13F, and 26L.  2/39 INF, 1/11 FA, (9th Inf Div), and AFCENT (Germany)

I am saddened by the severe injuries and deaths in this and other incidents.  I'm grateful that our missionaries were not worse hurt in this.

It's clear we're going to have to get used to this kind of news.  And it's also clear that we'll have deaths in our missionary ranks, too.

Last week, when I was at the airport (SeaTac nr Seattle), which was to put my wife on a plane to the UK, I was watching the people far more than I ever had before.  Until she had gone past the security checkpoint, which is when I got the heck out of Dodge.

No point in getting paranoid, folks, but there's enough reason to be watchful and observant these days.
