I don't know if this was intentional or not, but a major glitch of having the titles run vertical rather than horizontal on my iPad just got cleared up this morning.  It was only possible to read them in the tab headings, made it impossible to do a visual search and was so, so annoying.

Thank you, thank you for cleaning that up whatever was done.

No problem with deleting this as off topic

For guidance is a comment of "the moderators have instructed us not to" considered "Telling others how to behave"

Normally it's just seen as an FYI sort of thing.  Sometimes the mods provide instructions in a thread that posters who come in later don't see.  Letting them know, 'hey the mods said they'd thread ban people if we do this' is kind of a curtesy.

Pointing people towards thread or board rules isn't really telling them what to do; it's more pointing out what the mods have told them to (not) do.  But if you ever think that someone is breaking the rules report them.  Either the mods will agree and do something about it or they won't and nothing will happen.  But it's always a good idea to use the report button if you sincerely feel like someone isn't behaving themselves.

I have a feeling that I'm blocked, because I can post anywhere else.

I've made several attempts at posting on another thread and it won't go through. Could it be because I've been blocked by the poster that started the topic?

Other people have complained of this happening in the past.  Have you tried to use a different internet browser?  That worked for me.  Also, some posts have keyword triggers in them that make it so the board won't post them.  I'm not sure what all the words are but i've noticed that pharmaceutical names will sometimes do it.

I've had the weirdest problems with the board software from time to time. I don't know what the deal is.  But from time to time I have had problems posting  using all three major browsers: MS Internet Explorer / Edge; Google Chrome; and Firefox.  If Chrome is giving me problems, then IE works, or Firefox. Or some other combo. At the moment they all work for me.

I suggest that if you're having a problem with IE/Edge, try Chrome. If Chrome don't work for you, try IE/Edge or Firefox.  Or whichever works.

What I suspect is that subtle changes with a given browser will impact the board software in different ways at different times.  It's weird, but it's a "thing".

You could also try to check your browser to see if you have the most current version.  Browsers get updated when the developers have discovered problems with well-known platforms (which this board software is).

You need 25 posts to start a thread anywhere but Social, no clue why you can't post a comment, mods may have changed the setting without telling us or more likely by accident with the most recent update...unless you are including something censored like a drug name ( you should get a 403 error).

Go into your account, then account settings, and then look in the pull down menu there for signature.

It may be different as I just looked using my phone, but should be relatively similar.

Thanks Calm, I figure it must be because I'm on a limited status because I had a signature line at the bottom once before listed as "middlewayer" and it's no longer there, so maybe it's the bummer of being on limited.

I am a new forum-member who joined for the specific purpose of asking questions about the Church's doctrine which have caused me significant confusion.

It appears that I am limited to posting messages in the 'Social' sub-forum, which defeats the purpose of signing-up in the first place i.e. I am not here to 'socialise'; I am here to find answers to, as my moniker suggests, serious questions.

A friendly heads up.  After the board update, we lost our ability to ban people from individual threads.  This means that if you get out of line and we need to reign you in, you'll find yourself suspended from the entire board for a few days instead of just the thread where you were causing a ruckus.  If we have to do that too many times, you'll end up banned.

Also, no more posting direct links or videos of or to Mike Norton's (NNN) stuff.  It'll be deleted and the thread will be locked.  You can discuss his antics if they are relevant to a topic but we don't want to provide a platform for his 'gotcha' videos.

Ok, carry on.

Okay to quote them without a link?  (People can find them by searching on the quote for themselves.)

I assume it is okay to link directly to police reports and news articles even if we got them from Norton (since he posted the info I am unsure if okay) or other sites we can't link to.  Can that be confirmed?

Just wondering if the News section is worth continuing to have? Quite often I will post a News article in the New section where it belongs and then shortly after that someone posts the same thing in the General Discussions section (eg Ed Smart announcing he is gay news) and then we have two threads going about the same thing and the news thread eventually gets ignored or is closed.

I haven't posted anything in the News section for a long, long time, mainly because when I post a thing, I want it to be prominent. Not much traffic in the News section.

I know it's possible that my post will be moved to the News section, but even if that happens, at least there will be a marker in the General Discussions forum.
