Megadroughts In The U.s. Estimated To Span 30 Years

Recommended Posts

The earth is very old, and climates have changed many times in the past, and all evidence is that that will change in the future. What is not open to debate any longer is that the climate is changing very rapidly, and that man burning of fossil fuels is the cause.

On the bright side warming in the northern hemisphere will likely make mining for some mineral resources in Canada, Europe, and Asia feasible and cost-effective.

On the downside....yeah.....downside is still worse. :(

What caused this?  Cave man campfires?

I do not deny man is A contributing factor but we (man) is not THE contributing factor or even a major factor.

What is the major factor? The rise of CO2 levels has caused global warming in the past.

Why is Venus the hottest planet in the solar system?

If it is the Sun, why is the stratosphere getting colder?

Why is most of the global warming going to the oceans?

What about global warming on the other planets in our solar system?

http://www.livescience.com/1349-sun-blamed-warming-earth-worlds.html

Are we causing that too?

Mars is not warming globally, where is the peer-reviewed evidence? Scientists can accurately measure the sun’s output here on Earth, that is why scientists know the Sun cannot be responsible.

As for Pluto, it's orbit is much more elliptical than that of the other planets, and its rotational axis is tipped by a large angle relative to its orbit. Both factors could contribute to drastic seasonal changes, so it is likely a seasonal response, see a scientific paper. Any Plutonian warming cannot be caused by solar variations as the sun has showed little to no long term trend over the past 50 years and sunlight at Pluto is 900 times weaker than it is at the Earth.

I have a question for you, why is Venus the hottest planet in the solar system? Have you seen all the evidence I presented?

If the Sun is cause, why is most of the global warming going to the oceans? Why is the stratospheric cooling?

If you look at the images, below…seems kind of clear why:

Mercury comes close though:

Yeah, so what are you doing personally about it? To cut your CO2 emmissions.

Personally I have cut my CO2 emissions by about 1/2 over the last decade or so. While increasing my standard of living. Super-insulated my house; Use High Efficiency appliances like furnace, water heater, stove/oven, washer and drier, dishwasher; Use florescent, or LED light bulbs; Use LED TV and computer screens; Eliminated most if not all my vampire electronics; Turn off lights when not in use; Consolidated trips using my Intermediate sized car. Eat less meat, but am not a vegetarian.

Top 5 questions that skeptics cannot answer

1. Why is Venus the hottest planet in the solar system?

2. If the Sun is responsible, why is most of the global warming going to the oceans?

3. If the Sun is responsible, why is the stratospheric cooling?

4. If the Sun is responsible, why the warming of global surface temperatures has slowed over the past 15 years?

5. Can you name many climate scientists (link to their university profile or any reliable profile) that disagree? Do worldwide scientific organizations disagree?

Pope Francis said that Global Warming is a moral issue

It is okay to be a skeptical about CO2 caused climate change, but please be open minded.

CO2 is the major cause of Global Warming/Climate Change. CO2 was established as a Greenhouse Gas in the late 1800's by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius in 1896, and repeatedly confirmed by such groups as the US Department of Defense in the 1950's, 1960's.

It plays a significant role in threat assessment and deployment role to this day.

I am not aware of anyone any were that denies that the climate changes. So if you find one let me know.

It is okay to be skeptical, but most climate change skeptics are not skeptical at all.

Most climate change skeptics are very quick to believe in bad arguments and conspiracy theories.

Yes, Yes, YES the climate is changing. The OP states the no matter what we do there is a 60% chance of mega-drought. From what I've seen of Government attempts to help, the solutions will be littered with unintended consequences, mostly to the detriment of the middle class. Follow the light bulb changes which have and will continue to present a toxic waste problem. The same will plague a massive change to electric cars. Every politician runs away from nuclear , yet thorium has amazing potential for enormous power. If you want clean energy , think hydrogen. None of these solutions can be imposed upon the public by decree . People will change if not changing COSTS them a pile of money OR if there is money to be made by a significant portion of society. I prefer to build a better mousetrap than charge $1000 for the old one.

The problem is that media portrays it as an unsettled question. They need to stop. When we stop treating deniers seriously and treat them like Bigfoot believers and flat earth enthusiasts a few will retreat into isolation and most will give it up. Stop treating them seriously.
