The Passover In Margaret Barker'S Work?

Hey All,

I'm doing some work that involves the Passover, and am wondering if any of you Margaret Barker experts out there know whether she has done much with this topic.

Josiah held a major Passover as part of his reformation of Israelite religion, apparently refocusing the Passover on the Law. I would expect that Margaret has done a good deal with this event and with the larger theme of the Passover. Does anyone know where best to look?

Have a look at http://www.margaretbarker.com/Papers/TempleRootsofChristianLiturgy.pdf .This was part of theme 14 of the Marquette University (Milwaukee) Seminar on the “Jewish Roots of Christian Mysticism” (March 2002 - ), http://www.marquette.edu/maqom/roots .

She derives the Eucharist from the Day of Atonement, and not from Passover.

Don, I can recommend a few superb works on the historical development of the Passover. At the very least, they should help you separate the later elements from the early.

The arguments that Robert linked also appear in "Excursus: Parousia and Liturgy" at the end of The Revelation of Jesus Christ. Also, in the Mother of the Lord, there are some interesting discussions of the Passover in relation to Josiah's changes. She discusses the implications of the calendars (pages 45-6), plus starting on page 166, she talks about different Passover traditions. "When Ezekiel described the festivals and sacrifices for the future temple in Jerusalem, as revealed by an angel, the LORD required a very different passover than the one prescribed by the Moses tradition and also revealed by the LORD." She goes on to say "The Moses story describes a domestic ritual for Passover, and Josiah apparently transformed it into a temple festival unlike anything since the time of the judges (2 Kings 23:21-23).
