Criticis/exmormons often site the lack of "complete disclosure" as an excuse for their quips with Mormonism. But is this really a resonable expectation?
I mean, as a Missionary it was hard enough getting people to read sparse exerpts from the BOM let alone get into the intricute details and volumns of Church History. (eg. MMM, Polygamy, etc. etc. etc.)

Lack of disclosure always strikes me as an odd critique of a people who openly publish our history, journals, doctrines, practices, etc.
You are correct- the critiques miss the vital point that there is not enough time in regular classes to cover the basics much less tangential discussions of Mormon minutiae. That is what the internet is for.

I was once at a Stake Conference where the Seventy conducting was there setting up while we put up chairs and readied the Chapel for the service. The Elder (who will remain unnamed) stood up and tested the microphone by saying "Today's discourse will be on Blood Atonement..." then he grinned and went back to arranging his notes.
Those of us in the crowd who were versed in church history got a hearty laugh.

What is even more troubling is that if "Christian critics" would read the Old Testament they would have just as much trouble accepting Christianity and Judaism. (Double Standards not withstanding)

What! Are you expecting rationality?

As with many of the gripes and complaints of the critics, I view the "full disclosure" expectation as analogous to coughing, sneezing, and throwing up--i.e. a symptom of various spiritual diseases like blindness, ignorance, disorientation (not being centered on Christ), inverted priorities, ark-steadying-itis (pride), narrow -mindedness and dogmatism, adult fundamentalism, etc.

When the EV's start bringing up Martin Luthers anti-Semitism within an hour of starting a discussion of their version of Christianity, I'll be willing to discuss Joseph Smith's polygamy or Brighams racial view in the same time frame.

You don't understand. We are not only supposed to lead the horse to water we are also to shove his head in and make him drink and then forcefeed him more until he has drunk everything. Anything less would be fundamentally dishonest.

When they've read the sections in the Book of Mormon where Adam tamed the whale and where Joseph Smith rode the White Buffalo then they might be ready to tackle those subjects.

These are they that demand to be spoon fed and then scream that they are not being fed quickly enough while choking on the food in their mouth.

“When from Thy stern tutoring, I would quickly flee, turn me from my Tarshish to where is best for me. Help me in my Nineveh to serve with love and truth; not on a hillside posted, mid shade of gourd or booth. When my modest suffering seems so vexing, wrong, and sore, may I recall what freely flowed from each and every pore. Dear Lord of the Abba Cry, Help me in my duress to endure it well enough and to say, . . . 'Nevertheless.'” - Neal A. Maxwell
