Did Joseph finsh his inspired translation of the scriptures in 1833, or was it only the Old Testament he finished at that time?

Did he ever finish the New Testament?

And why does the RLDS seem to have the whole thing online, while the LDS doesn't?

This is probably the best link for your first two questions....
http://www.lds.org/e...lation?lang=eng

I believe it is not online at lds.org because it has not all been canonized.

If not already, all should be put online at the josephsmithpapers.org site.

When you climb up a ladder, you...begin at the bottom...ascend step by step, until you arrive at the top...so it is with the principles of the Gospel--you must begin with the first...go on until you learn all the principles of exaltation. But it will be a great while after you have passed through the veil before you will have learned them. It is not all to be comprehended in this world. Joseph Smith

Emma took the full manuscript with her. Community of Christ owns the copyright to the manuscript from what I understand.
10 a. Collectively and individually, you are loved with an everlasting love that delights in each faithful step taken. God yearns to draw you close so that wounds may be healed, emptiness filled, and hope strengthened.
b. Do not turn away in pride, fear, or guilt from the One who seeks only the best for you and your loved ones. Come before your Eternal Creator with open minds and hearts and discover the blessings of the gospel anew. Be vulnerable to divine grace. -D&C 163:10

Wouldn't the copyright have been expired by now?  When did they first publish the whole text?

The whole text has been published for more than a century in the Holy Scriptures (3-in-1) which includes the Inspired Version, Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants.

However, you may be right about the copyright because I know that you can purchase copies of the Holy Scriptures at the Restoration Bookstore in Independence, MO. The Restoration Bookstore was started by Richard and Pamela Price (Restoration RLDS).

I can see the Church not publishing it all online out of respect for the holders' of the copyright, even if it is expired.

But I couldn't find anything in my quick search to state specifically why we don't have it posted now that content has been confirmed by direct examination of the original so I am just guessing.  Perhaps someone more willing or able to go into depth today...I am shallow diving today by inclination....

They have already begun to post it on the JSP website. Deseret Book recently published two editions with complete, up-to-date, and well-edited texts (New Testament | Old Testament), including multiple versions from different stages of redaction. In some cases, the manuscripts and redactions differ than the way it is presented in the canonized Moses, and JST footnotes. Facsimile editions of the entire manuscripts are available both in print, and electronic editions.

Availability isn't the issue any more. The elephant in the room is how to express what it means (with more and more coming around to the understanding that it appears to be more of an inspired modern doctrinal and aesthetic 'update' or 'midrash' to the Bible, then anything approaching the traditionally expressed view of it being a literal restoration of original ancient text)

Yea, the mods overlooked that phrase. I would assume that they don't know hebrew.
Joseph Smith Quotes
... I love that man better who swears a stream as long as my arm, and administering to the poor and dividing his substance, than the long smooth faced hypocrites. I don't want you to think I am very righteous, for I am not very righteous. God judgeth men according to the light he gives them.
Words of Joseph Smith, p.204 (18 May 1843)

I have a copyrighted version of the New Translation, published in 1970 by Herald Publishing House, Independence, Missouri.  It is a "complete parallel column comparison of the Inspired Version of the Holy Scriptures and the King James Authorized Version."
It has a lengthy Introduction outlining the translation process, progression, and completion of the manuscript.
Part II of the Intro outlines the prep of the manuscript, types of changes, adjustments by "the Committee," and manner of translation.
Part III discusses the Inspired Version Today, and the authority of the Inspired Version.

Sincerest apologies. I copied and pasted the wrong phrase.

That's very funny considering what the phrase is.  I would encourage you to just stick to plain English if you ever decide to visit Israel.
