Fellow blogger Wagonburner posted this on a blog site. It truly is worth reading.

Club Unicorn: I am a gay, devout Mormon, happily married to a woman, with three children

This is an account by a man named Josh Weed who admits he is of the same sex orientation (sexual attraction) though he has always chosen to live a heterosexual lifestyle. He has been married ten years, is extremely happy with his wife, and they have three beautiful daughters. Weed brings up great points in his article regarding how to deal with homosexuality and the true meaning of living a life in harmony with the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is well worth your time to read. Here was my reply on the same link;

This is truly a superb post and the article Josh Weed wrote (contributed by Lolly his wife). It touches on a sensative issue and I think Weed truly gives remarkable insights into the struggles of same sex attraction as well as acknowledge that what they do with their attraction is always a choice. Weed also gives light to the great joy in making a choice that is in accordance with God. He also does a outstanding job in representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints and its view of homosexuality. President Gordon B. Hinkley of the LDS Church stated the following:

“People inquire about our position on those who consider themselves so-called gays and lesbians. My response is that we love them as sons and daughters of God. They may have certain inclinations which are powerful and which may be difficult to control. Most people have inclinations of one kind or another at various times. If they do not act upon these inclinations, then they can go forward as do all other members of the Church. If they violate the law of chastity and the moral standards of the Church, then they are subject to the discipline of the Church, just as others are” (Gordon B. Hinckley, Ensign , Nov. 1998, 71)."

I think Josh Weed's article very much reflects this position though with the noted adsence of there being any violation os the law of chasity and of LDS disciplinary counsels held for violators which are held for those who break the law of chasity. However, i simply think this was not Josh's interest to address, only the love the homosexual as being imperative in doing good to them as a Christian. Even in the LDS culture, they are to love the sinners, period for the LDS believe that "we are all beggers" before God.
While I deem the article as legitimate there is a skeptical part of me which wonders if Josh Weed is completely forthright with hs life or fiegning a bit in order to reach out homosexuals. I want to stress that overall I do believe Weed's words but I would like to see more of him and it does appear he is willing at this point in his life to go public in bigger ways to tell this story which again I really enjoyed reading.

One big curiosity I have is if Josh Weed did go on a mission? If so, where and when? More to the pont though is how he overcame temptation in living with at least one other male, working daily wit that male and perhaps having around 3-6 other males in his apratement / residence for two years. I know had I served my mission (Recife, Brazil 1990 - 1992) and lived with several young women that temptation would be insurmountable to not heed. Having placed the power of his own sexual same sex attraction at par with heterosexual attraction, how did he avoid the temptations?

By the same token, I can very much understand that Josh Weed chose not to serve an LDS mission as to avoid this temptation altogether.

This is the same topic (if not the same site) as Jwhitlocks "Another Perspective Thread".

Might we see the two merged for simplicity?

No matter what one's orientation, "it's" always been about putting Christ first, and every and any accountable person can do this.
