Honestly, the LDS church is irrelevant to the gay community. I understand what the activiwts are doing but they need to knock it off. Leave the church alone and the church should stay out of civil affairs. Evergreen is a joke just as NARTH is a joke. Both are irrelevant as well. The gay community needs to just move on.

NARTH's results are mixed at best, but amid all this controversy, I am a little curious as to why there is no talk about pharmaceutical treatment for same-gender attraction. They've done it in rats already.

If a drug was found that would cure SSA, with no appreciable side effects, I'd bet dollars to donuts that political pressure from the gay community would prevent it from ever coming to market.

Not that you are the "gay community" -- you're Darth Vader for goodness sake -- but why should they move on when you haven't?  You're HERE, for instance.

Don't take that as a request that you "move on" with respect to this forum.  Just seems like you're contradicting yourself.

The difference is that I'm not asking for change from the LDS church. I enjoy engaging in dialogue with people here. Darth Vader isn't in the avatar. I forgot which Sith Lord it is. I just liked the pic.

So are you saying that gay Latter-Day Saints should either pick the gay community an leave the Church, or pick the Church and leave the gay community?

If so, isn't that a bit of an oversimplification?

Not at all. The gay activists, outside the church, need to stay out of LDS church business. Likewise, the LDS church needs to stay out of the gay community's affairs.

Whatever gay members of the church decide to do is their business. I'm not the person to give advice to any of these persons.

When you climb up a ladder, you...begin at the bottom...ascend step by step, until you arrive at the top...so it is with the principles of the Gospel--you must begin with the first...go on until you learn all the principles of exaltation. But it will be a great while after you have passed through the veil before you will have learned them. It is not all to be comprehended in this world. Joseph Smith

This is laughable and ridiculous. It kinda reminds me of 'the cure' in the X-men 3 movie.

Oh how the anti-gay and critics of the gay community would love for such a drug to make waves. Focus on the Family and other hate groups are losing the wind in their sails. They are failing miserably.

Edit: statement was rude.

That's a pretty absurd hypothetical. In fact, quite an impossible hypothetical. Such a drug would, by definition, cause brain damage, which is a pretty bad side effect. Besides, in an equally absurd hypothetical, suppose that God commanded you to be homosexual. How comfortable would you be to take a hypothetical pill that made you gay?

Replace "SSA" with "mutant powers" and you've got  "X-Men 3"
The LDS Stake Medium Council Blog

In spite of the world's arguments against the historicity of the Flood, and despite the supposed lack of geologic evidence, we Latter-day Saints believe that Noah was an actual man, a prophet of God, who preached repentance and raised a voice of warning, built an ark, gathered his family and a host of animals onto the ark, and floated safely away as waters covered the entire earth. We are assured that these events actually occurred by the multiple testimonies of God's prophets.

The principle is the same. No need to try to "fix" or "cure" something that does NOT need to be fixed. It's a no brainer.

You seem rife with dogmatic exclamations on this thread, and that is your prerogative.

However, others of us have reasonably used our brains and have concluded otherwise.

The gay community will never move on while they are insecure and need validation from every man and his dog.  They also will not move on, until everybody is forced to and articulates their agenda to their satisfaction.  Being a member of the church there are many communities, circumstance and clubs that my faith is not accepted or mocked and rejected.  Guess what I couldn't care less, I don't need people to pat me on the back to make me feel like my lifestyle is acceptable.  For the gays, completely different.  If you don't validate their point of view...you automatically become nothing short of a bigot.

I know this seems to be a common thought by those that are against gay marriage.  But I really disagree with you.  Things will calm down considerably when gays are given equal civil rights to marry and not be discriminated against.

Perhaps you are not old enough to remember when the black community was very much in your face fighting for their civil rights.  There were also activist groups such as the Black Panthers and other organizations pretty much in the news on a regular basis.  When Americans finally decided that it should be against the law to discriminate against blacks on any basis, the news and activist groups went away.  At some point, the laws will change in this country and discrimination against gays will also be realized.  Until that happens you will continue to read about the pushback from gay rights groups.  It is as simple as that.
