Don't think this has been mentioned yet. The article is a little superficial and sensationalist, but textual "closure" is always nice. Apparently, all the surviving fragments of Amenhotep's Book of the Dead have been discovered, so it'll be interesting to see how these newly-discovered portions match up with later versions.

Intrigued by the fragment, donated in 1913 by an unknown woman, Dr Taylor asked whether there were any more pieces in the museum's dungeons.
"When I was brought into the conservation lab to see them, after a very short period of time it became apparent that we did indeed have many fragments of the Book of the Dead of this extremely important man," Dr Taylor said yesterday.
"This is not the papyrus of just anybody - this is one of the top officials in Egypt at the peak of Egyptian prosperity."

The discovered portions will be able to fill in some of the blanks regarding the form and development of the Book of the Dead. Beyond that it is too early to tell.

There may be some relevance to several of the Joseph Smith Egyptian Papers (if I remember correctly, several of the notebooks contain characters taken from fragments of the Amenhotep papyri that was in Joseph's possession, which are no longer extant), though I am not sure if there will be any direct relevance to the Book of Abraham. But, what do I know.
Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Are you saying the papryi are no longer extant or the notebooks? I thought either the LDS Church possessed both, with at least the majority of the former?

The Amenhotep fragments that were in Joseph's possession are no longer extant, though fragments from other papyri that were in Joseph's possession are extant. And, as the linked articles point out, other Amenhotep fragments that weren't in Joseph's possession are now extant. The notebooks that may have been based on the Amenhotep fragments that were in Joseph's possession, are also extant. I hope this is now clear.
Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Is this in reference to the stuff that Joseph Smith translated to be the Book of Abraham that were said to in truth be the book of the dead? How could they be anything but directly relevant? Wasn't one of the explanations for this the fact that a lot of the stuff was missing?
(I ask this question knowing next to nothing about this issue)

No, these missing fragments have nothing to do with the missing fragments of the Joseph Smith Papyri.
