If the creation of man was God giving a primate the priesthood, a bunch of problems go away. Adam can be the first man and live relatively recently. Adam can be in the garden. Noah can be the only one with the priesthood who survives the flood. Maybe just a crazy theory but I don't see any immediate flaw.

I have my own ideas on the subject, but this could be a promising insight. I might ponder on it a bit more, not because I think it explains everything, but it might fit in with some other things.
A few other bits: to say "Adam" and to call an "Adam" IS a priesthood.
To participate in mortality IS a priesthood ordinance from the point of view our pre-mortal life.
These bits are my thoughts only (or as I imagine I have learned).
Full disclosure: I hold that my physical body ancestors are humans far back beyond the existence of this particular planet, so I don't have a primate reconciliation to make. But your insight is still worth thinking on for me, hmmmm.

Not crazy at all. The way I usually think of it is literal spirit children of God finally being born as spirits within homo sapiens; the first two being Adam and Eve who are then placed into the garden to await the Fall. Accomplishes the same thing and keeps one from having to worry about preAdamite salvation as well.
