hey dude when you diss Christianity you diss yourself
Dude.  I'm not dissing Christianity, i'm sarcastically pointing out what the Romans quite literally thought about Christians in the first century AD as a way to illustrate how easy it is for people to judge what they don't understand harshly.

Hopefully, realizing how they used to be perceived will give some Christians (the one's prone to such judgments) a moment of pause and honest reflection on who's example they are really following.

As a recent convert to the Church, I was asked by my sister as to whether the church believes and practices what is written in the Bible . I told her that indeed they do !
What made her ask ? Because, she honestly did not know !

I'd probably have to fight the urge to unleash the smart-aleck inside me.

While I'm not a member of the church, I totally understand what you're saying.  In regards to my wife's LDS faith, I normally have to correct misconceptions about the LDS faith before we can actually discuss your faith.  If I'm standing on a pitcher's mound, it's hard to have a conversation if they are standing in the parking lot.

I credit the LDS missionaries (and my wife) in challenging me, in regards to my Catholic faith, to me being the on-fire Catholic that I now am.

I think, be nice and don't quit. No doubt many pastors feel threatened by the growth of the church. It certainly does threaten their source of income. We can't change that. All we can do is keep loving and serving others.

My grew up reading all kinds of material critical of the Church. It really wears you out because it is SO un-original, so negative and unreliable.   That said, I think its important to stand up firmly, but politely, and correct the errors and then quickly go on the offense. Invite him to attend an LDS church meeting; invite him to read the BoM, etc.

Many great suggestions have been listed above. Follow them and you'll be just fine.

How about an introduction? I like introductions.
