How would you assign Home Teachers to the WH?  Brother Hatch and Brother Reid...?  You know, so it's bi-partisan and all?

As long as the Brothers clear security it would not matter whom it is.

Too hard...you would not, unless it was close friend who can get a pass, but the SS will check out every aspect of his life.

To get in the building is not the same thing as getting access to the President. Anyone who gets through screening can tour, but if see the President and even move in his general direction...you get a "beat down"! Even cops have to surrender their ammo when standing near the President.

It is just one of many levels of that security. Gaining access to the President is passing security.

I imagine that the president can influence who gets near him. Michel does not have to go through security every time she "gets near" O'bama. If Barrack were to tell the Secret Service detail,  "Com'on guys, let Alinksy in," I really have a hard time imagining their replying, "No, sir! He's a communist agent provocateur who advocates violence against the USA!"

Previous Presidents don't seem to have had a hard time going to church. It was, however ,a photo-op but usually not inside the building( unless there was a public funeral etc.) As for temple attendance, the number of relatives that could attend would easily make a full session,( I guess Paul would have to stand outside)

What I would do if I were Pres is lobby for a dependent branch to meet in the white house (probably the family rooms, but maybe the public rooms with rotation among faiths for other services since I would want to promote the value of faith in God, without ever preaching it and however it is personally expressed (like the kinds they do for hospitals in Utah).  This would also help the other members of the church who work at the white house.  Wasn't there over 60 during the Nixon years, for instance?   And for temple attendance, I would ask to be able to go before it was generally open or after closure with a few necessary workers (really only three are required.  (Might even ask for my own key?)

He'd be the president of the united States of America, not the king of Israel.

I believe hope this would not fly. Brother Romney would not allow it; I'm sure he'd sacrifice his own Temple attendance before subjecting so many other Saints to this harassment.

He would not be the one deciding that, the way only it would not happen is if he just dropped in, this is called an unscheduled stop, thus no one meaning him harm would know he was going to be there. I would hope if this happens that he does not call him to the stand to sit. That would be soooooooo wrong.

I don't think security concerns would let him drop in when he travelled.  After all, if that were known, it would be a comparatively easier target.   And what is so heretical about asking for and getting a key to the temple.   Temples have known to accommodate special groups for round the clock sessions, and for other special events.   You don't have to be king to have a key (unless, of course, you have particularly "caring" facilities leaders, and even then they  would listen to the ecclesiastical leader(s) with keys to make that call (pun intended).

If Romney were President and wanted to attend the Wash DC temple, I don't think it would be that difficult.  What makes anyone think there are not LDS Secret Service... there's plenty of members in the FBI and CIA that could be transferred to a SS detail.  He could just go without telling anyone except a few last minute notifications for security.  Because no one meaning him harm would know just what day/hour/session he would attend, I don't think it would be that disruptive.  Portland temple has a separate baptistry entry where young people enter and show their recommends and then do baptisms.  Romney could use such an entry away from the crowds.  It could be worked out, for instance, he could already be seated in the endowment room when others came in.  Respectful temple behavior would assure Romney would not be approached.  In fact, I'm thinking the other patrons would be protective of his privacy and want him to have a quiet experience without any to-do...realizing he probably might not have the opportunity to attend that often.  LDS secret service could be seated either next to him or nearby.

A special session after hours wouldn't be hard to arrange either.

I didn't even know Romney was serious enough in his beliefs to go to church, let alone change the White House kitchen to get rid of caffeine and alcohol. He goes to Sacrament Meeting and he is doing home teaching and Temple work as governor of Massachusetts? He is a returned missionary too I suppose? Wow.

And I had thought Romney would be to you guys as Kennedy was to us.

On the off chance that your post is not TIC, Brother Mitt is a former bishop and stake president, and most weeks attends a local ward on the campaign trail, usually the one nearest whatever hotel he is staying at.  Yeah, I think he is a serious member.
BTW, recieving home teachers shouldn't be all that hard.  Doing his home teaching, THAT might be trickier.

Also many temples already have "ticket only" sessions.

Home teaching:

The church now have a policy where it is unnecessary to visit an active family every month.

Romney served a two-year mission in France... he has been a bishop and a Stake President...
I just heard on the news that Santorium has suspended his campaign... hmmmm.

You don't understand.  He does not need to make changes in the menu.  The Word of Wisdom is about personal obedience, not about forcing others  to obedience.  Nothing need change as far as the amenities offered in the White House.  Mr. Romney only needs to worry about what he partakes of.

Temples do hold special sessions for high profile/high security risk members. They enter in through a service door avoiding the front desk and only those involved are ever aware that they even attended. The challenge is not attending the temple but rather getting to the temple undetected by the media. I believe the Seattle Temple held a session for members with tourettes syndrome.  I understand it was a very unorthodox session with a lot of otherwise inappropriate outburst but those who attended enjoyed a rare opportunity to participate in temple ordinances. I do not know how they handled all the logistics but it was kept very discrete and no other patrons were even aware it was going on.

Perhaps someone who works at that temple would know more about it. I suspect temples with higher LDS concentrations such as Provo hold similar sessions for members with similar conditions.
