KevinG Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 No real discussion here. I just wanted to see how many people (Scott Lloyd) would jump on this thread to quickly defend the Saints in Zion from my provncial intolerence. Watch the view count.

I just wanted to see how many people (Scott Lloyd) would jump on this thread to quickly defend the Saints in Zion from my provncial intolerence. Watch the view count. No need to mount any real defense. I'll just remain characteristically standoffish, arrogant and quirky. That has worked well enough for us in the past.
KevinG Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 That was quick! Love you Scott - and all your quircky intermountain friends! We like to blame Utah for all of the weird Church policy announcements we get here in the mission field. But in truth a lot of those probably stem from events in California.

Utah's in the mission field too. Come July, there will be two additional missions in the Salt Lake area alone.
BCSpace Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Texas Mormons are superior in every way to Utah Mormons.
Kenngo1969 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Texas Mormons are superior in every way to Utah Mormons. All are alike unto God, and He is no respecter of persons.
Bikeemikey Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 It is wildly apparent that Utah mormons are from Utah.Any thing else?
selek1 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) All are alike unto God, and He is no respecter of persons. This is quite true. You'll note, however, that God is a respecter of geography. The Scriptures are replete with references to "choice lands" and "lands that are blessed above all others".It is self-evident that these are merely coded references to Texas. On the other hand, we have references to lands that are under various curses or which were "smitten for the Lord's sake".This clearly refers to their status as "not Texas." The Nehor Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 The Scriptures are replete with references to "choice lands" and "lands that are blessed above all others".I think God and I have very different tastes. Jerusalem is not that nice and anyone who looks at Missouri and thinks that is a great place for a promised land is either confused or has very different standards.

The scriptures don't say that the Lord called his people Zion because they were from New York or Pennsylvania or Ohio or Illinois or Utah or Texas. They say that the Lord called his people Zion because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness, and there were no poor among them. I don't think the whole we're-the-children-of-Abraham thing flies, whatever locale one is speaking of. Zion is in Texas, and Arizona, and California, and Utah ... and not-Zion is also in Texas, and Arizona, and California, and Utah. The Lord is able to raise up children of Abraham from rocks ... in Texas, and Arizona, and California, and Utah.Incidentally, I guess the California Mormons among whom I joyfully served as a missionary just forgot to obey that additional Article of Faith about turning their noses up at me because I'm a ... Utah Mormon.

Jerusalem is not that nice and anyone who looks at Missouri and thinks that is a great place for a promised land is either confused or has very different standards. A wise and salient observation my friend.By way of contrast, though, you'll notice we've never caught any of the Apostles singing, "I Wish They All Could Be California Girls".There is wisdom to be found in that silence.

selek1 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 The Lord is able to raise up children of Abraham from rocks ... This explains the successes in the missionary fields north of the Mason Dixon and west of the Rio Grande....he's got a lot of rocks to work with in those parts.

Vance Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Texas Mormons are superior in every way to Utah Mormons. And why not? Most of them came from Utah! 1
selek1 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) Is said wisdom that the Twelve all have Asian Fever?Having never heard the term "Asian Fever", I did a quick Google.(In the interests of accuracy, it was actually Bing- I don't care for Google's new "record every key stroke for your own good" security policy). The first six results were references to Larry Flynt productions....which I doubt is what you meant. Is this Asian Fever similar in any way to Boogie Fever, Disco Fever, or Saturay Night Fever?Cuz I'm having a really hard time picturing President Monson in the white tux, black shirt, and gold-chains popularized in that era. I served in the SLC South about 10 years back... My former mission boundaries (which were already small--45thS - Point of the Mountains & Wasatch - Oquirrh Mountains) apparently will now house 3 missions... unbelievable...

Scott Lloyd Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 See those Utah Mormons need more repentence preached per square mile than any other place in the world.(digging a little deeper now!)It's because of all the Texans and Californians moving in. (Ducking for cover.)
