Others were concerned that they were legitimate descendents of famous people or Jews that may be restricted from public submission.

What if anything has been the repercussions for those who obeyed and those who disobeyed the rules of using the website?

Repercussions for obeying. All my temple work on New Family Search, has been put on hold. It's discouraging. (A women in our ward, has had her work, put on hold also) I may well have family who were in the Nazi Camps, it's now a worry, wondering if it turns out that way, will I be put on hold again...if/when my work is released. It doesn't just effect my Jewish family, all work is put on hold.

Looks like the trouble makers got their way - at least temporarily.  The good news is I suspect the church will catch up with the new requirements over the long haul and be able to validate your ancestry and allow you to do work for your family members.

I have a dear friend who is also a Jewish convert.  I need to ask her if this is causing her trouble.
Please ask me what I believe before telling me what I believe.  Hint- start here: http://lds.org/scriptures/
