  1. The quality is extremely poor. They use cheaper ingredients. Appearance over substance. The waxiness is part of it. They rely more on sugar than quality chocolate as well. Less cacao, using cheaper fats instead of cocoa butter, using more sugar. https://www.gourmetboutique.net/blogs/tasting-room/17250043-european-vs-american-chocolate-whats-the-difference
  2. Idaho has coconspirators as legally responsible for any crime done by accomplices if I understand correctly, so even if murders are pinned on Alex, I believe if the State can prove part of the coverup involved LVD or CD, they can be held responsible for the murders as well, at least to some degree. It has been awhile since I read the explanation, so I may be wrong. They may not get life, but I don’t see them getting completely away with it. There is also the shooting attempt of Brandon Bordeaux for both and the murder of Charles Vallow for LVD if these charges don’t convict them. Worse comes to worse they can get her for neglect and child endangerment and fraud, iirc. It may not be life, but my guess is she won’t be rejoining society for a number of years and if she does, her lifestyle is going to be minimal because even if she gets paid for books, etc, there will be constant civil suits from Charles Vallow’s family against them both. The family are not going to let it go if the State fails. CD….his kids may still back him, so he might be able to live a decent life with one of them, but I don’t see him being able to walk around in public safely. They have destroyed their own lives in more than one way. They don’t have the money to insulate themselves from the consequences. If they ever get out, my guess is they will be harassed till they die. Life will be a prison for them in or out of jail. I can see LVD getting off on the notoriety if she had the lifestyle she kept marrying and divorcing/killing for, but I see that as unlikely. CD wants to be loved and worshipped and taken care of. I think people hating him, despising him will be a version of hell for him. The phone call between them when he was about to be arrested showed how pathetic he truly is imo…and even if she was obvious to reality then, it has been a long time in jail and she has been given significant medical treatment, so perhaps she is not quite so chipper about life at this point. There is some evidence already shared that shows Alex being on the property at the same time as Chad when JJ was last seen, iirc. LVD might have insisted Alex do it all on her end though. I will be shocked if they don’t have trace evidence.
  3. I wonder if they can tell if the lack of duty to inform or to have a permit increases police shootings or not.
  4. Not unless the judge changes his mind.
  5. Jury selection for the first trial has started. No cameras in court. These are the two top reporters on this Imo, been devoting lots of up close attention from the beginning… Justin Lum (Arizona) is providing details here; https://m.facebook.com/jlumfox10 day one: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02T3B9DtxDNgRyHzUKhqpBKpWRdCimVok7jMNSrQ8JPtSzD8zm7dv4zn1PLz2BkW8Nl&id=100044424966565 Eaat Idaho News (usually Nate Eaton) here: https://www.eastidahonews.com/2023/04/jury-selection-begins-on-first-day-of-lori-vallow-daybell-murder-trial-day-one/
  6. Agreed. We need both and more teaching of the history and development of racism that exists in the here and now, realistically, avoiding the extremes (meaning teaching the extremes exist, but avoiding using them as the standard for teaching what is appropriate behaviour), though agreeing what is realistic is hard, but the process itself reveals a lot of how racism manages to survive.
  7. It is the absence of lactase producers in the intestine that causes lactose intolerance, not pasteurization. Otherwise, everyone drinking pasteurized milk would be lactose intolerant. https://medlineplus.gov/genetics/gene/lct/ Since you can make yogurt out of pasteurized milk by adding Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus, again pasteurization not the issue.
  8. A different, nongovernment source: https://www.aap.com.au/factcheck/raw-milk-claim-is-udderly-untrue/ If you like milk, maybe following it with a plain yogurt chaser could be enough. I may try it myself as I have noticed more sensitivity, but not sure it is lactose because lactaid does not solve it all. I don’t have issues with yogurt usually, but haven’t eaten much lately. Maybe I will test it tomorrow.
  9. It is basic chemistry. Raw milk may or may not help with other digestive issues (I love raw goat milk and it feels good in my stomach; need to check with my neighbour if she still does that now bovine milk isn’t an option as much), but lactase needs to be present in order to digest lactose.

  11. How many people cry when handing over tithing? Are you missing a “not”?
  12. Nvm my original comment if you saw it…I just realized what you meant…very good point. You can’t experience another’s life fully vicariously if you lack their agency to make choices, but are just along for the ride. You can experience agency by only living your own life. So what does that mean for those who are not accountable before death?
  13. Or is it making one accent dominant. What would an accent less voice sound like? Serious question. My guess is very flat, monotonish.
  14. The Godly attributes, of course. Define all that is in the Father, the Son and others that is “God” and then we can figure out how they got there.
  15. Just from Smac’s quotes, I didn’t get that as the thesis, I got the impression that having only Holocaust education was a problem because the lack of education of current racism made it harder to identify racism of today since it is less extreme. Focusing only on the Holocaust meant anything less than wanting to kill Jews could be interpreted as not racist. His thesis as I understood it is it is not enough to teach the past, we need to teach the present. Plus if you are going to teach about a people, teach it right. Am I missing something from the article?

That is the exact thought that occurred to me.
  17. There are several other Canadians too, I believe, quite a few more if you include those who occasionally post.
  18. For those who have a hard time remembering faces or backgrounds, this is a useful resource, both for summarizing talks and finding likely desired quotes and for background on the speaker, including previous experiences and talks, which I find very useful. They have probably done this for awhile, (I have seen the summaries before), but the background stuff is new to me and so satisfying I thought I would share it just in case someone else likes it as well. You have to scroll down a bit to get to the links. https://www.thechurchnews.com/members/2023/3/29/23661083/general-conference-april-2023-talk-summaries-session-highlights-news-announcements
  19. I have an acquaintance that is trying to get it to identify a particular, easy to identify characteristic of the Book of Mormon, longest chapter is the one I remember most. Even after at least a half a dozen corrections and abject apologies for misleading us, still getting it wrong. But each answer is so intelligently confident, it really feels like it should be right, lol. That worries me a little given how many people accept misinformation even when poorly written. I am flabbergasted they have programmed it to be such a good writer even if the content is crap. I am curious about how it does with conversation, if it could throw in enough interesting details so it wouldn’t all be just reflective listening (basically repeating what the other said) or responding to a question, but both plus maybe instead of responding to a question, pick up on a topic referred to and add tidbits of info to keep the conversation from drying up.
  20. I think the emphasis for change should be more put into retention, have an organized program with a different set of missionaries with two families (or more so any kid in the convert family is buddied up with a kid their own age and sex so they have someone they know in classes) or a couple of singles per single convert (so it is not all on one person). These buddies would commit to follow through to actively minister new converts and would be switched very quickly if they weren’t able to. This buddy time might include having study time in those buddy and convert’s homes to take over for the Gospel Principles class…maybe a FHE each week that includes all these, but is open to anyone else in the ward attending as well to make it easier for everyone to get to know each other. Maybe invite a different family/several singles each week to introduce everyone. I know many wards already do some of this or other stuff and it may be even church wide and I am just out of the loop these days, but I think with all of our missionaries, if they are doubling up in areas rather than opening new areas, seems to me it would be smart to have two stages of missionaries, one for investigators and one for converts, even active ones and to train them differently. This might help move dependence off of missionaries for commitment easier as well.
  21. I agree. I saw a graph about homeschooling trends and there is just no way to conclude anything from the last decade of more if one includes 2020 and 2021, save that there was a huge increase for those years…how much that increase sticks as life gets back to normal, which it isn’t yet in many places, is unknowable I suspect.
  22. My guess is converts these days are much more informed, at least in the controversial stuff. Hopefully in history and basic doctrine too. The internet has made everything easier to explore. Not saying they necessarily dig deep, that would depend on the person, but it makes me think that there is likely a smaller set of reasons for converts going inactive since many who would have learned about issues that would disconnect them from the Church probably learn of those issues before baptism these days.
